Notes of Seriousness and Deliciousness

Today has been a day to remember.
If you have read this blog in the past you will probably understand that we of the house are not ones to take things too seriously. We all live life, to an extent, with an air of nonchalance.
However, there are times of course when reality and respect break the veil of our demeanor and there is nothing but the stark humanity of our character to drive us.
That is where I sit now.

Today was the wake of Jason Mueller.
He was a good friend and an x employer of mine and, till that evening, Brads. Many of you may have heard about the shooting at Grand and Wolcott. whether you have or not, I take this time to celebrate what i have known of him.

I have not known Jason for very long but I did know him to be one of the most genuine people I have met. I continued working for him, despite my lack of enjoyment and appreciation for the job, because of a general respect and appreciation that I for him.
If your interested in reading the news article it can be found HERE.
Everything said about his character is true. He was a dedicated entrepreneur. He was passionate about life. He was loyal, understanding, and selfless.
I also like to remember that we would get wasted alot.
We would laugh about the kimball house.
He would come over and play drinking games with us.
He would leave drunk phone messages for Jamie about how next time he would kick her ass in irish poker.
We would take time out from work to look at cute girls walking down the street.
He would deliver unsold pizza to people whom he knew needed it.
He would save slices for the homeless woman that walked the street.
He would drop employees off at the Damen blue line at the end of the night so they wouldn't have to transfer from the bus.
He allowed me to continue working in sound while still being an employee.

Me: "Jason i'm gonna have to quit. I'm getting more and more gigs."
Jason: "Cool. I'm not gonna take you off payroll. Just let me know when things dry up and you need some hours."

I can say nothing wrong about the man.
He truly dedicated his life to his dreams, the generosity he showed others, and above all else, his family and friends.

Jason, it is privilege to know you.
you will be missed.
I'll see you down the road man.

Going to the wake was something of an adventure in itself. Jimmy told me other night that he was going to ride down with me. I said we would leave around 1 as the doors opened at 2. I was able to piece together something of an appropriate ensemble as James rolled into my room complaining that he had nothing to wear. After throwing multiple articles of clothing at him we searched brads room. No dice. Apparently James is of a shape and size that mere men fail to possess.

It was at this time that i encouraged the idea of saying fuck it, and he can go in jeans and a t shirt and look like some sort of hipster street punk.
The best we could do with limited resources and time was...
well you try making this

into something decent...
the best we could do was

and so we headed to the south side to pay our respects.
Once down there Jimmy exclaimed that we were close to Del Taco. Del Taco, for those unaware, is like taco bell wrapped in awesome and dipped in amazing.
Though we have talked about going before, most of you don't even believe that there IS a Del Taco in Chicago. Well, we are here to tell you that Cicero and 95th street is the mecca of the cheap fast food taco universe.

Taco Bliss. Just look at his face!

Also, completely unrelated.
Evidence suggest the paragoyle is part shark...
